Welcome to the website of psychologist Jerry M. Ruhl, Ph.D.

Jerry M. Ruhl, Ph.D

I am an experienced and trusted therapist and teacher, and I take a depth approach to psychology that accepts and values unconscious aspects of human experience, the mysterious and unseen as well as rational and goal-directed thoughts and behaviors. It is essential that you feel welcome, safe, heard and understood—not judged or criticized. Collaboratively, we will explore limiting habits, patterns, and fears that keep you stuck and dissatisfied. The length and direction of therapy is related to the complexity of problems and your individual needs. I will meet you where you are, not impose a particular therapeutic model. My approach puts no limits on the person you can become.

I’m also the author of books and articles on psychology and spirituality, including Living Your Unlived Life: Coping with Unrealized Dreams and Fulfilling Your Purpose in the Second Half of Life. You can find some of my writing here. As a speaker and teacher, I’m also available to lead workshops and speak at events.

I offer online consultations via Zoom. This works well for those who find it difficult or impossible to meet face-to-face, including out of state or overseas clients. Sessions via the internet can be as effective as office visits for many conditions and allow clients to experience psychological insight and support while remaining in a familiar environment. It is particularly appropriate for Jungian dreamwork and depth psychology.

Words of Wisdom

So now I intend to play the game of life, being receptive to whatever comes to me, good and bad, sun and shadow forever alternating, and accepting my own nature with its positive and negative sides. Thus everything becomes more alive to me.
